Automation and optimization of the planning of the different transportation and distribution flows that make up the logistics of this type of industries, including the movement of raw materials from our suppliers to the plants, the output of the finished product to our warehouses or logistics operators, the transportation from these to the commercial delegations or distributors, and of course, the daily distribution process to our customers or final points of sale of our products.

We will drastically reduce (from hours to minutes) the daily planning times, optimizing the necessary resources for each of the associated processes, always aligned with the operating model and the requirements, restrictions and objective optimization criteria, generating savings and offering the highest degree of information, visibility and control over the entire operation.

The growing omnichannel nature of the commercial and demand generation processes projects its dynamism in the expectation of an equally dynamic response and greater agility in the transportation and distribution processes throughout the FMCG sector, even more so in scenarios involving perishable foods or foods with reduced freshness times.

Accelerated planning processes, which free up valuable time (measured in hours) from the daily operational cycle, allow both a longer lead time for order entry (equivalent to fewer incidents and out-of-routes on a daily basis), and a longer lead time for picking and loading processes, ultimately reducing the operational stress of the daily cycle and improving its efficiency.

On the other hand, optimization not only applies to the obvious route planning, but also to the selection of the ideal origin of each order (combining stock, freshness, demand, delivery times, etc.), to the cubic capacity of each vehicle, to the selection of the optimal supplier in each scenario, or even to specific factors such as load balancing or minimization of tours or reloads.

Pharmaceutical distribution

The special operations of pharmaceutical distribution, traditionally structured on static routes and subject to very strict delivery time window restrictions in each of the daily delivery cycles, together with very demanding service levels and the highest quality, constitute a very relevant operational challenge.

We will ensure that this static routing structure provides a response in each region, warehouse or area of operation with maximum efficiency and cost control without sacrificing maximum service quality. We will be able to easily maintain all the entities and attributes associated with each pharmacy and each delivery shift (average number of buckets, associated time window, etc.), as well as manage the downtime in each delivery, even at the specific level of each pharmacy, and feed back our optimization models with real data on speeds, travel times, downtimes, etc. to always ensure the highest level of adherence to the reality of our operation.

From the analysis and simulation functionalities, and automatically, we will be able to identify those time window incompatibilities that are generating inefficiencies, with recommendations on the adjustments that we should apply to iteratively improve our operation. In the same way, and with absolute simplicity and autonomy, we will be able to anticipate the dynamic changes that condition our day-to-day operations, and redesign and adapt our routes to each change (high/low number of pharmacies, change in the average number of buckets per shift, changes in time windows, changes in the cost structures of our suppliers, etc.), as well as simulate any of these changes to analyze and understand their effects before implementing them in production.

Parcel / E-commerce

The exponential growth of e-commerce that we are experiencing in recent years, multiplied by the additional difficulty of a pool of potentially new delivery/collection points every day, leads to the need for disruptive solutions in which technology and data science become our allies to do with simplicity and agility something tremendously complex for any organization of parcel or similar activity: to plan a growing demand so capillarized in the fastest, most efficient and reliable way, every day, or even several times a day.

The daily, recurrent use of these automation and optimization functionalities will allow us to have in minutes, and without any manual intervention, the daily delivery planning of all the daily demand of a scenario with hundreds of vehicles and tens of thousands of deliveries, including the necessary geolocation processes of all these new customers and all the operational restrictions that are applicable, schedules, service windows committed to the customer, breaks, limitations, delivery balancing, etc.., adapting ourselves every day in an absolutely dynamic and flexible way to the always changing conditions of the operation, and always ensuring that the generated planning is the best possible on the defined optimization criteria, and without limitations in number of daily deliveries, in the number of depots, vehicles, or types of vehicles, etc.

The real-time control of the entire operation, with the flexibility to configure alerts to customers or to our team in case of events, delays or incidents, and the evidence of deliveries fully configurable according to operational requirements, will give us maximum visibility and ability to react to unforeseen events, maximizing the quality of service.

Once the digital twin is deployed and configured, we will be able to use the operation history of the last months, and even combine it with demand forecasts or simulated workloads against expected future growth cycles, to integrate different transport networks, define an optimized fleet configuration, identify the optimized location of warehouses/depots, or identify operational inefficiencies.

Logistics operators

The role of logistics operators within the sector, and in each of its possible typologies, is of an absolutely protagonist and growing relevance. In recent years, their degree of specialization and the quality and efficiency with which they perform the activity they carry out for their customers is intimately dependent on their technological maturity and the level of adoption and exploitation of the different capabilities of solutions such as the digital twin solution proposed by oga.Logistics.

We will be able to plan in minutes, and with the highest levels of reliability and robustness, transportation scenarios in which different strategies are combined (multi-pickups, multi-deliveries, groupage, etc.), without limitations in fleet type, number of vehicles, number of orders, etc. Our planning will ensure the maximum level of compliance with the service levels committed to customers in both deliveries and collections, as well as the objective (simple or combined) of optimizing the defined indicators (minimize kilometers traveled, minimize the number of vehicles, maximize the filling level of the vehicles, maximize the uptime of the vehicles, etc.).

We will be able to ensure strict compliance with the commitments acquired with our drivers or, failing that, with our transport suppliers in relation to the maximum number of hours of each driving cycle, even guaranteeing the return to base at the end of each cycle of the tractor head, and we can even plan in an optimized way all the loading and unloading processes in the docks of each node of our network, We will also be able to include in the planning the barge exchanges in medium and long distance cycles, necessary for the fulfillment of certain time restrictions of each shift until the return to the driver’s base, while complying exhaustively with all the associated regulations.

We will be able to visualize, control and monitor the entire daily cycle and in real time the entire operation, with the flexibility to configure alerts to customers or to our team in case of events, delays or incidents, and the evidence of fully configurable deliveries, offering us maximum visibility and ability to react to unforeseen events.

Distribution chains

Wholesale or retail distribution chains, whether they operate in the food/home sector or other niches as ‘category killers’, have in their logistics processes one of the main levers for generating value and building competitive differentiation.

Both in the initial logistics flows (from suppliers to plants or logistics blocks), as well as movements to stores or points of sale, or even from the growing omnichannel, the need to make home deliveries, involves very relevant challenges in parameters of efficiency, profitability, planning and management capacity of the different transport providers from which they usually feed to respond to all these needs of movement of goods, which must be combined with strict compliance with requirements, compatibility schemes and restrictions associated with an operation growing in complexity.

We will be able to plan over different time frames, even identifying regular transport structures or sequences that facilitate the contracting and management of transport providers.

We will ensure compliance not only with the regulations in force, but also with the whole scheme of driving cycle restrictions agreed with suppliers (to facilitate the drivers’ return to base every certain number of hours), as well as the compatibilities between types of goods (dry, fresh, frozen, returns, fish…), management of the different types of goods (dry, fresh, frozen, returns, fish…). ), management of the different types of docks and their specific requirements, and always respecting the feasible gap configurations within each barge, differentiating even between the management and planning of tractor heads (generally associated to a base platform or a specific plant) and the management and planning of barge movement, which in medium and long distance scenarios will require interchange points between tractor heads.

The planning in minutes of all optimized transport scenarios combining different strategies (multi-pickups, multi-deliveries, groupage, etc.), with no limitations in terms of fleet type, number of vehicles, number of orders, etc. ensuring the ideal configuration of each barge, its loading and unloading sequence in each node of the network, and its specific association at each moment to each tractor unit, fulfilling all the requirements and business criteria (minimize kilometers traveled, minimize number of vehicles, maximize vehicle fill level, maximize vehicle uptime, etc.) will be key for an efficient and profitable operation.

We will be able to visualize, control and monitor the entire daily cycle and in real time, the entire operation, with the flexibility to configure alerts to customers or to our team in case of events, delays or incidents, and the evidence of fully configurable deliveries, offering us maximum visibility and ability to react to unforeseen events.

Waste collection

Unlike other logistics, transport or distribution processes in which we apply and exploit the potential of a digital twin such as oga.Logistics, waste collection scenarios, whether industrial or urban solid waste in its different variants, are subject to different constraints or environmental conditions that affect the optimization objectives and even the very parameterization of the models to respond to criteria more focused on increasing operational capacity on the same pool of resources or in the optimization of these same resources for the generation of extra capacity with which to assume other different demands.

These operating models, traditionally based on static route structures of daily execution, are being influenced in recent years by attempts to sensorize points of interest (PoIs, containers, garbage cans, etc.) that can in some cases build scenarios susceptible to dynamic route planning, on this path of operational efficiency and capacity release, without ever giving up maximum adherence to the objectives of quality of service, so sensitive for the citizen.

We will ensure that these static route structures or even the eventual dynamic routes that may need to be planned will provide a response with maximum efficiency and cost control without sacrificing maximum quality of service. We will be able to easily maintain all the entities and attributes associated to each poI and in each service shift (average number of kg, associated time window, etc.), as well as manage the downtime in each delivery, even at the specific level of each poI, and feed back our optimization models with real data on speeds, travel times, downtime, etc. to always ensure the highest level of adherence to the reality of our operation.

From the analysis and simulation functionalities, and with absolute simplicity and autonomy, we can anticipate the changes or requirements of the operation, and redesign and adapt our routes to each change (high/low poIs, change of average waste quantities per poI, changes in time windows, etc.), as well as simulate any of these changes to analyze and understand their effects before implementing them in production, such as designing the best way to release certain types of resources or capacities to be able to address new services without generating an impact on the service.

Non-urgent patient transport

Among the operational scenarios of maximum criticality and greater need for reliable and excellent planning, we could highlight the non-urgent transport of patients. The organizations responsible for this type of transport play an absolute priority role in our society, and are subject to very demanding restrictions, controls and requirements, as well as being conditioned by a demand that is sometimes difficult to predict or plan, which may sometimes require dynamic replanning.

In addition, being a public service for the most part, they concentrate very specific and special specificities (available seats, seats occupied by each “customer configuration”, commitments of pick-up/drop-off times for patients at each point, maximum agreed waiting times, penalties associated with non-compliance, etc.), and the dynamism of their demand generates scenarios of excessive working hours for drivers, additional expenses derived from overtime, etc.

From the implementation of oga.Logistics, we will be able to address complete daily planning scenarios, on even a number of days in advance, which can be complemented with dynamic replanning during the working day to accommodate all the new demands that must be met, always under the same criteria of efficiency and profitability, without compromising the levels of compliance with the quality of service.

We will automatically geolocate the addresses of each patient pick-up point, and make a distribution and planning of the different vehicles according to the different configurations associated with each patient (standard seat, wheelchair, stretcher, companion, etc.), contemplating all patient drop-off/pick-up points, transport times, times of each associated medical routine, maximum waiting times, etc.

Thanks to these capabilities, the lack of knowledge of the transport topology of a geographical area, its travel times and distances, the peculiarities of the traffic in the area, will never be an obstacle to approach new contracts or concessions in that area, since we have a solution of global scope and maximum simplicity of use, allowing us to make estimates, simulations and analysis of operational scenarios with all the economic, service and operational metrics that will allow us to make the best decisions, always based on data.

technical-assistance-services

There are countless different organizations that require an optimized planning of their on-site technical assistance service. Organizations that require the presence of a specialized technician that must carry out certain activities at the customer’s location, before going to the next service point.

We can plan both with the necessary advance (24/48 hours in advance), in a fully automated and optimized way, and during the same day of operation, through iterative, sequential planning, which will complete the agenda of the assistance technicians, building a complete and gradual planning.

This model guarantees the greatest adherence in time to the needs, priorities or urgencies of the organization, perfectly compatible with optimized schedules 24 or 48 hours in advance.

We will be able to ensure maximum compliance with the business requirements of the organization, taking the efficiency of the operation to the highest level without sacrificing the quality of service, understood as strict compliance with the commitments of assistance (arrival within the agreed service window), and maximum responsiveness to unforeseen events or incidents from the functionality of control and operational tracking in real time.
