Optimizer of schedules and timetables for companies and educational institutions using mathematical techniques.

Duration: January 1, 2025 – December 31, 2026.

Total budget: €449,490.

Project description:

The SMARTIMING project aims to develop an innovative tool for planning and optimizing schedules in companies and educational institutions through the use of advanced optimization techniques (matheuristics).

The solution will enable the creation of optimal schedules, taking into account both mandatory constraints (resources, classrooms, shifts, and teachers) and user preferences, improving operational efficiency and satisfaction across the entire educational community.

Main objectives:

  • Develop hybrid single-objective and multi-objective optimization algorithms.
  • Validate the tool in pilot educational centers: IES Salmedina (Chipiona, Cádiz) and Colegio Internacional San Francisco de Paula (Seville).
  • Optimize resources and reduce planning time.
  • Incorporate user preferences into automatic schedule generation.
  • Transfer scientific and technological knowledge in the field of operational research.

Project subsidized by the CDTI – Center for Technological Development and Innovation (Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities).
Project co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF 2021-2027).
