Accelerated planning processes, which free up valuable time (measured in hours) from the daily operational cycle, allow both a longer lead time for order entry (equivalent to fewer incidents and out-of-routes on a daily basis), and a longer lead time for picking and loading processes, ultimately reducing the operational stress of the daily cycle and improving its efficiency. On the other hand, optimization not only applies to the obvious route planning, but also to the selection of the ideal origin of each order (combining stock, freshness, demand, delivery times, etc.), to the cubic capacity of each vehicle, to the selection of the optimal supplier in each scenario, or even to specific factors such as load balancing or minimization of tours or reloads.

Pharmaceutical distribution

The special operations of pharmaceutical distribution, traditionally structured on static routes and subject to very strict delivery time window restrictions in each of the daily delivery cycles, together with very demanding service levels and the highest quality, constitute a very relevant operational challenge.

We will ensure that this static routing structure provides a response in each region, warehouse or area of operation with maximum efficiency and cost control without sacrificing maximum service quality. We will be able to easily maintain all the entities and attributes associated with each pharmacy and each delivery shift (average number of buckets, associated time window, etc.), as well as manage the downtime in each delivery, even at the specific level of each pharmacy, and feed back our optimization models with real data on speeds, travel times, downtimes, etc. to always ensure the highest level of adherence to the reality of our operation. From the analysis and simulation functionalities, and automatically, we will be able to identify those time window incompatibilities that are generating inefficiencies, with recommendations on the adjustments that we should apply to iteratively improve our operation. In the same way, and with absolute simplicity and autonomy, we will be able to anticipate the dynamic changes that condition our day-to-day operations, and redesign and adapt our routes to each change (high/low number of pharmacies, change in the average number of buckets per shift, changes in time windows, changes in the cost structures of our suppliers, etc.), as well as simulate any of these changes to analyze and understand their effects before implementing them in production.
