Artificial Intelligence and OGA, protagonists at the III Economic Forum of Andalusia
20 March 2023
OGA led the session dedicated to the application of Artificial Intelligence as a lever for the transformation and improvement of critical processes in organizations at the III Andalusian Economic Forum organized by El Español and Invertia.
“We are a leading company in the development of digital twins of critical business processes, with which large organizations are increasing the efficiency and sustainability of their operations” – Juan Carlos Rubio, CEO of OGA.
Emilio Carrizosa, Professor of Statistics and Operations Research at the University of Seville, president of the Spanish Mathematics-Industry Network (Math-In) and member of the Grupo CÁTEDRA, OGA’s Technology Advisory Board: “The collaboration model developed by OGA with its advisory board is an example of how to optimally structure the university-industry alliance to generate innovation”.
OGA, a technology company specialized in the creation of solutions for the optimization and automation of business processes through Artificial Intelligence and Operations Research models and tools, was the protagonist of the session dedicated to Artificial Intelligence within the III Andalusian Economic Forum organized by El Español – Invertia. A high-level institutional and business event held at the Cajasol Foundation (Seville) from March 13 to 15, 2023, which has had the institutional opening of Juan Manuel Moreno Bonilla, president of the Junta de Andalucía; the intervention of Antonio Muñoz, mayor of Seville; and the closing of Isabel Rodríguez, Minister of Territorial Policy and spokesperson of the Government.
The forum, with more than 50 speakers in different areas of the economy, healthcare, energy and technology, was coordinated by the team of El Español – Invertia, headed by its executive chairman and director Pedro J. Ramírez, and was broadcast live on the publication’s online platform.
OGA‘s CEO, Juan Carlos Rubio, spoke at the round table ‘The future and possibilities of Artificial Intelligence in Andalusia’, moderated by Francisco Abad, delegate counselor of Grupo R. Queraltó, and president of the Technology, Entrepreneurship and Startups Commission of Cesur; in which also participated Diego Hueltes, founder and CEO of Tadia; and Emilio Carrizosa, Professor of Statistics and Operations Research at the University of Seville, president of Math-In Network (Spanish Mathematics-Industry Network), and member of the CÁTEDRA Group, OGA’s Technological Advisory Board formed by thirteen professors and researchers of international reference in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Process Optimization, belonging to nine Spanish universities and one American university.
During the session, Juan Carlos Rubio presented some references about OGA OGA‘s growth based on excellence: “We are already becoming a leading company in the creation of digital twins of critical business processes and optimization of complex processes of public organizations and private companies. From Andalusia we compete successfully with international technology companies, and from Andalusia we build solutions based on Artificial Intelligence and Operations Research developed by graduates of our universities, which are digitally transforming large and complex organizations, public and private, and in many cases multinationals with global implementation, international projects that already account for 40% of our sales”.
“Our technology drives savings, efficiency and greater sustainability of our customers’ operational processes.”/strong>
Also, Juan Carlos Rubio explained that “Artificial intelligence is the new paradigm of innovation, it is the new electricity of the functioning of systems and processes. In Artificial Intelligence the rules are inferred from the raw material, which is data. The data generated by the business processes of any organization is one of its most important assets. And with these technologies we can turn them into business value. With our technology we are achieving savings, efficiency and greater sustainability in the operational processes of our clients, multinationals such as Coca-Cola, Acerinox, Heineken, which are already clearly returning their investments in this area and generating a very significant competitive advantage. And SMEs also have the opportunity to use Artificial Intelligence as a tool with which to focus their business models”.
OGA‘s CEO also gave a revealing example of the contribution to process improvement in the areas of public management: “One of the most satisfying innovations is the MANTIS Project, in which we are collaborating with the Andalusian Healthcare Service developing a complex predictive system based on Artificial Intelligence, achieving an improvement in the quality of healthcare service to the citizens, an increase in the care capacity of the hospital system, and indirectly a significant cost saving for the public purse as a result of a proactive intervention that prevents and avoids admissions and hospitalizations. The preliminary results are being highly valued for their great impact and we are confident that in a short period of time it will be part of the unstoppable innovation that Artificial Intelligence represents and that is also transforming healthcare and public administration”.
OGA is a company highly committed with the integration of ethical principles to design and use Artificial Intelligence, as well as to protect data privacy, as stipulated in the European framework. This is why Juan Carlos Rubio appealed to all public administrations to speed up regulation: “Whenever we apply Artificial Intelligence in projects with a social impact, we must ensure the strictest control over the ethical aspects arising from the use of this technology, which is not risk-free. However, we cannot afford the slightest delay in the development and application of such transformative capabilities, and therefore we need to have regulations that ensure and guarantee the explainability, auditability and absence of bias in the methodologies and techniques used, and that they do so from an objective and comparable framework with the international standards that are already being developed”.
“Matching academic and commercial rhythms to support continuous evolution”
OGA‘s OGA’s leading role in this important forum was reinforced by the participation of Emilio Carrizosa, Professor of Statistics and Operations Research at the University of Seville, president of the Spanish Mathematics-Industry Network (Math-In), and member of the CÁTEDRA Group, OGA‘s Technological Advisory Board. He stated that “OGA is an example of how to properly structure the university-industry alliance to match the continuous evolution and methodological renewal in the generation of innovation and knowledge transfer. And OGA has achieved this by harmonizing rhythms that in principle have different speeds in the academic and commercial spheres”.
From his dual perspective, Emilio Carrizosa emphasized that “Artificial Intelligence overwhelmingly contributes positive factors to the improvement of society. There are some negative ones to control, but without a doubt, the net sum is very positive. And there is no need to be afraid of it in terms of the future of employment.”.
Juan Carlos Rubio pointed out: “In the same way that in the last quarter of the 19th century a process of restructuring of many jobs took place with the massive adoption of electricity in industry and in all types of activities, in the second quarter of the 21st century we will witness a similar restructuring of the labor market as a result of the adoption and industrialization of Artificial Intelligence in a transversal manner in all types of sectors and organizations”.
We would like to thank El Español and Invertia for inviting us to the forum, a scenario of the future of Andalusia in essential areas such as innovation, economy and technology.
